Laugh at the things that are right side up and those that are upside-down -- it doesn't matter because you are not doing the thing worth doing which is lying down somewhere in a dimly lit place enclosed in arms, and supported by the core of the world.
Questions:
1) Is this the thought of a teenager or a middle-aged housewife?

Comments:
The above question might seem strange but it does have a point. The paragraph this quote is lifted from is about teenagers trying to gain acceptance from their peers. However, the speaker of the quote is the narrator. Is this the narrator's opinion or the opinion of the teenage Dorcas? It seems to be a highly romanticized notion. Again, the question of "who is the narrator?" is again important.
